About Me

My professional career as a photographer spans more than forty years. During that time I have had assignments in photojournalism, corporate events, public relations, aerial, theatrical and advertising. My photographs have appeared in films, such as Ken Burns’ Jazz, and books published by Beacon Press, NYU Press and Smiley Books/Hay House Publishers, among others.

I have done free-lance assignments for Wide World Photos(AP), Black Star Picture Agency, NY, and United States Information Agency (USIA).

My exhibition record includes group shows at the High Museum in Atlanta, the Brooklyn Museum (its permanent collection) the Smithsonian, the Bronx Museum of Art, the Springfield Museum, Mass., and the Studio Museum of Harlem. Also, a national traveling show sponsored by the University of Maryland & Kansas City Jazz Museum. Collectors have acquired my work from galleries and the auction house Phillips de Pury, in New York.

The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and the Smithsonian’s

National Museum of African American History and Culture (NMAAHC) chose my photographs for their permanent collections in 2013.
